dear anyone more crafty than me-

i found this lovely room above at anthro and the curtain-used-as-a-canopy-look got me thinking. my bedspread, with the plate, is yellow and white- and this yellow and white curtain is on sale at anthro for 29.90! when do you find things that cheap at anthro? I'm thinking of trying out this look. but tell me please, what sort of contraption could i make or buy cheaply to create that canopy look??? do you think i can achieve that same idea with just one curtain?

you are so cute. Just remember you will probably have to buy two of those (very rarely do curtains come in sets of two - if that makes sense). You can get a good and inexpensive curtain rod at Walmart. You will want to make sure it is a little longer than the width of the window. Good luck.

yeah jewl, but lets make sure i'm understanding you right. are you talking about the simple curtain or the canopy for the bed? I hope i wont need two curtains for the canopy. and do you think they have circular shaped curtain rods at walmart??

k mare, i think the only thing you can do is buy a bedding canopy (you can get them at bed, bath and beyond for like $30) then nail it to your wall. That would make the effect work, it just might take some work not to make the bed canopy look weird. Maybe if the canopy was right at the ceiling, how high are you ceilings? Am I making any sense at all? You still may need two curtains, you'd have to try and see.

okay - this would be so cute! love the yellow. you could use a round shower rod. they do make those. i looked a bit on the web and the ones i found online were between $200-500. pretty pricey if you ask me. but, i did stumble across this other website that has them for 35 pounds. which i'm pretty sure is less than $200. haha. the website is http://www.watsons-on-the-web.co.uk, and there are three of them that might work. item # BA3250, BA3260, and BA3270. so if you search for those item #'s, then you should be able to see some that might work. let me know if it doesn't. oh, and i hope they ship to the US... good luck!

well first of all I am FAR from profesh. And now that I am understanding the pictures right (my explanation only pertained to the yellow drape picture-sorry) it makes things a little more tricky. As far a as a canopy-whatever...I have no idea where to find one or what they used. My guess is it would end up being pricey if you did exactly what they did. I think you could make something really cool - like a knock-off look of that pic without spending a ton of money. You could use the drapes with a curtain rod and create the draping effect and all. I could see it being really cool if you hung some pic up under too (like your awesome wedding/engagement ones). Do you have a head board...notice how the nobs on their headboard are perfect for the drape effect - that's something to check into and also...how long are the curtains at anthro? The longer the better...and necessary. Holy ultra long post sorry. did that make sense. Let me know if you are understanding my vision.
