Dowtown B

Two Saturdays ago we took the trek down to the heart of the city Boston. For me it was a first. We took the train into the city. There is a very famous tourist attraction called The Freedom Trail. It is a mile-and-a-half long red line painted thru the city that takes you past tons of historical sites. It starts in the Boston Commons, a lovely park.

Here the trail begins: Yipee!
These are the gals I call family for a summer. LtoR CharLee Carn, Sierra Prina, Rebecca Lowe, Edna Porter. This is the lovely Massechusettes State House. Plated with real gold.... not.

One strong steel donkey holding too many people.

Look at these crazy girls, I love em! This is just a corner fruit stand but we found a great saturday flea market full of scrumptious cheap fruit.

Sierra and I were walking and taking pictures-thus the blur.

If you can read this picture found in pavement outside it reads; School St. Boston. Site of the oldest public school in the United States. Founded in 1675! Wooie

I forgot why this statue was imporant(typical american tourism) because I read the sign about the sculptor. So here is a picture with of us by sculpture created by a Danish man. Devin would be proud. ps....take note of who Kyler is lookin at

Ride Ride let the truth be known, Ride like Paul Revere. That was a favorite song we sang in 3rd grade. Here's his famous house. We had already eaten so we didn't even go in, we just wanted to go home. A long trip but worth it.

Here is the restuaraunt we found as we strayed from the straight and narrow Freedom Trail into little italy for FOOD. We opted the 3 dollar pizza rather than 28 dollar plates, but I'll have to try it out just to say i did.

A babe named Kyler

I've fallen for this little dude. He's not mine, but if ever anyone asks if he is mine I never hesitate to claim he is. Props to Sierra and John Prina for this cute dude.

First ride without the carseat. Dont worry it was only a few hours long... jk

A little wannabe Moses. It was cold out and we were nervous for earaches so this was our defense.

Here he is trying on some flip flops. I think he likes em.

Itsy's

Besides all the many things that we won't mention that my blessed mother did for me when I was little, she taught me nursery songs. I learned the itsy bitsy spider and loved to do the actions as best as my uncoordinated hands would permit. One rather dramatic episode at the dinner table from me as a four year old, has been a laugh for my mother and I for many years since. We were having pizza. Not so dramatic for the American family right? Well suddenly I start screaming at the top of my lungs, "ITSY ITSY ITSY!!!!" Now, important note: My mother hates spiders just as much as i do. So she was frantically looking for this 'itsy' that her little one has spotted. Walls, under the table and high chair, on the floor-it all seemed clear of those terrible monsters. When I took a breath and had a moment to stop temper tantruming, I realized that my mother was not cleaning up the itsys. In case she wasn't getting the clue, I pointed at where i spotted the itsy-the pizza. I can imagine my mother's face going pale, and in her mind thinking, "No, please dont be on this pizza. What will we eat for dinner?" She searched the pizza but luckily found no itsy. She began to interrogate me asking what I thought was the itsy. After some confusion, and probably some difficult debate, and much soothing she had to convince me that the thousands of little black olives on the pizza were not itsy's. I've hated olives ever since, and spiders only more. Well much to my luck it seems those spiders here cant seem to stop following me around. If you dont like them I would not read on. I'm proud of the courage I've had recently to kill at least 1 spider a day and in cases like yesterday 5 in one day! It gives you such sense of accomplishment. I've been taking pictures of them for some strange reason here are just a few of the famous ones:

GROSS
Sick, we don't even know what this is. There are the strangest bugs out here.

This is usually the solution to the frights I have when I see these grotesque things: scream, find my right flip flop, and some good ole raid. I think we ran out of that on our first week here.

Olive Garden Alfredo Sauce Copy-Cat

My friends and I out here are getting into cooking. Its what we do late at night while waiting for our starving boys to come home. My friend tried this the other night. It made enough for four of us to eat and leftovers. YUM. Its also really simple.

1 pint heavy whipping cream
1 cube butter-dont substitute margarine
2 Tbls cream cheese
3/4 C Parmesan cheese. The finely grated kind that comes in a canister thingy
1 teas garlic powder. We added a little bit more
pepper to taste

Melt the cream cheese and butter. Add Parmesan cheese and garlic powder. Stir with wisk. Slowly pour in the heavy cream. Add pepper to taste, stirring constantly over medium heat for a few minutes. Dont wait for it to thicken. Serve with noodles. Make sure you dont rinse the noodles after straining them. They loose the capacity to absorb the sauce, because the sauce thickens from the starch from the noodles.
VOILA. easy eh? It's so similiar too, I was caught off guard. Make me rethink paying 12 bucks for it at the restuarant again. We're trying Cafe Rio copy cat recipe for Sunday. I'll let you know if it's a hit.

bitty bit bout boston

Thought we'd try to keep you up to snuff on this new city we're exploring. Here are some views taken right in our complex!

We live maybe 15-20 minutes away from Harvard. We went to visit and loved it all. The entrance:

Such a quaint Bookstore

We had the best time posing by this statue of the founder of Harvard: John Harvard. We loved to joke about how we 'went' to Harvard. Here's devin pretending he's graduating now. Some of the real students took pics with their hand on the shoe like so. All passers by laughed at us.
Devin and I, Kyler, Sierra and John Prina

Sierra and I posing by these pillars. Funny story: her little babe is chillin behind the pillar-This was a girls only shot. Maybe next time Kyler.

Tennis Tuesdays

I cant throw a ball, catch ball, or do anything really sports related, and I wanted to change that this summer. It's embarrasing! So I told Devin he had to teach me how to do it all. We've touched on golfing in the past. Moving on to TENNIS. It's my new favorite time with my best friend-Tennis Tuesdays. We wanna play every tuesday morningDevin plays really well, was on the team in high school, and has a killer serve. Here's our goings so far.
gotta love the early morning look
there are some pretty nice courts real close to where we live

us getting our tennis faces on

We went this past week with Sierra and John. It was a lot better for Devin to have someone his own size. But poor Sierra had to deal with me. We were swinging all over the place looking like silly dance girls. We hit a few out of the fence- Woops.

I got Tagged!

Melissa Ercanbrack tagged me and I like this cute marriage tag.

How long have you been married? not even 6 months
How old is your spouse? 23
Who eats more? I'd claim I do, but Devin doesn't believe it
Who said I love you first? Devin, but I was a quick second. I guess there is no one in third so that doesn't matter.
Who is taller? Devin has 8 inches on me
Who sings better? Devin sings better, but I sing more which may be worse
Who is smarter? I probably do better in tests, but Devin is more knowledgeable.
Who controls the T.V. remote? Devin, I dont know how to work that high tech stuff.
Whose temper is worse? I dunno, but I get way more stressed than Devin ever does and so probably me.
Who does the laundry? Devin reminds me when it's past due and puts it in but I usually fold it.
Who does the dishes? Devin, but sometimes me. I cook, he washes. He's better at washing than anyone I know.
Who sleeps on the right side of the bed? If you're in it-Devin.
Who cooks dinner? Before this summer we both did. Now just me. I'm glad I have more time to cook, but sad cause Devin is a true chef like Ratatouille-just throws together something fab.
Who is more stubborn? Devin is only stubborn about opening the door for me, and what a nice thing to forever be stubborn about.
Who is the first to admit when they are wrong? Devin, he is so humble.
Whose parents do you see the most? Devin's
Who has more friends? We just hang out with each other. I'd guess I have more, but his friends he is really close with.
Who has more siblings? Devin. He has 5, and I have 4.
Who wears the pants in the family? Devin, i'm just here to enjoy the ride and it's been beautiful.

Thanks lissa:) I tag Sierra Prina. Missy Turnbull. Sherry Glazier. and CharLee Carn.
